Local Area Information

High Green Farm is an ideal base for your holiday. It is situated in a peaceful location midst farmland, hills and streams and in a central position for exploring both the Lakes and Dales. There are so many places of interest both locally and further afield offering a wide variety of activities and interest. This is an area of outstanding beauty and there are many walks, footpaths and country lanes just waiting to be explored. The Howgills and Ingleborough are accessible in minutes and the wonderful views afforded from their summits are well worth the climb.

The area is well served by hotels and public houses where you can partake of excellent food and drink.

Kirkby Lonsdale Golf Club is a 5 minute drive from High Green and is a picturesque parkland course nestled between the village of Barbon and the River Lune. It is recognised as one of the top golf courses in the north west.

An ideal family day out is the four and a half mile Falls Walk at Ingleton, some of the most spectacular waterfall and woodland scenery in the north of England.

White Scar Cave, the longest show cave in Britain, deep beneath Ingleborough Hill is well worth a visit and another spectacular underground experience is the Ingleborough Cave.

The market town of Hawes makes a good day out with a visit to the Wensleydale Creamery, the home of the only real Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese, also the Hawes Ropemakers and the historic Gayle Mill.

There are numerous National Trust properties in the area, gardens and garden centres, pony trekking and bird watching at Leighton Moss nature reserve. There is so much to do and see - something for everyone.

We are always happy to advise guests on where to visit and give them the benefit of our local knowledge.
